Forensic Science DegreesForensic science degrees are offered at several online accredited universities. These programs prepare students for work as forensic scientists. Graduates generally work in the law enforcement, private investigation, or environmental chemistry fields. Graduates of these programs are in high demand in the forensic job market. With a forensic science degree, you will be qualified to work in forensic laboratories, DNA testing labs, hospitals or law enforcement positions. Distance learning offers you the opportunity to complete your studies while working or attending to family responsibilities. Most programs in forensic science take about four years to complete, if you are willing to commit to full time study. You may be required to attend lab sessions each week as part of the program. More programs offered as distance learning are planned for the near future. The distance many students would have to travel is prohibitive and distance learning addresses this issue. Several science courses in chemistry are required for a forensic science degree. In addition, you will study evidence, fire and explosion investigation and you will be required to complete a forensic research project. All requirements must be met before a degree is given.
