Christian distance learning
Christian Distance Learning
Christian distance learning through colleges or
seminaries offer a variety of degree programs. They are often used to
train people for jobs in the Christian sector, such as pastors, missions
and evangelists. Teaching degrees are sometimes offered by Christian
colleges to prepare people to teach in Christian Schools. These
institutions will accept credits from other Bible colleges, but may or
may not accept credits from other universities. The curriculum in these
distance learning colleges is faith based and meant for people who are
born again Christians.
Some universities have separate programs in the college and seminary
categories. The seminary schools generally offer a master program in
Divinity. To qualify for these degree programs, you must have a Bachelor
degree. This can be in any subject and doesn't have to be from a
Christian institution. Bachelor and Master Degrees are usually offered
in Theology, Christian Counseling and Education. Some schools give
credit for live experience in Christian work or ministry.
Many Christian colleges and seminaries aren't regionally accredited.
Some institutions are accredited through Association of Independent
Christian Colleges and Seminaries (AICCS). This is an accrediting agency
for Christian schools, and is not recognized by the US Department of
Education. If you plan to transfer credits to another institution, they
may not be accepted if the school isn't regionally accredited. If your
chosen profession requires a state license, check with your state
department of education before enrolling to make sure they will accept a
degree from the institution you will be attending.
Tuition for distance learning
Christian colleges or seminaries is quite a bit less than at most other
universities. Some schools offer interest free financing and break down
tuition payments into monthly payments. If the school you choose is
regionally accredited, you may be able to get federal financial aid.
Federal student aid is only available to students in schools that are
regionally accredited and recognized by the US Department of Education.
